Joy of Noel Free Tutorial

I don’t mean to panic you, but the countdown to Christmas is ticking away. But there’s still time to create a few handmade Christmas cards. Especially with this quick and easy layout. It can be adapted to any stamp set and Designer Series Paper.  For this card, I used elements from Stampin’ Up! Joy of Christmas Suite Collection including the Joy of Noel Bundle and Joy of Christmas 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper. Find them in Stampin’ Up!’s September-December 2023 Mini Catalog.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • STAMPS – Joy of Noel Bundle (161967)
  • PAPER – Real Red Cardstock (102482), Shaded Spruce Cardstock (146981), Basic White Cardstock (159276), Joy of Christmas Designer Series Paper (DSP) (161958)
  • INK – Real Red (147084), Shaded Spruce (147088)
  • OTHER –Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder (156392), Stylish Shapes Dies (159183), Real Red 3/8” Ribbon (159577), Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels (158987), Real Red Stampin’ Blends Combo Pack (154899), Stampin’ Seal (152813), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (149653)

Cutting & Scoring:  

  • Real Red Cardstock – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, scored at 4 ¼” and folded
  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock – 5 ¼” x 4”
  • Basic White Cardstock – 3 x 3”, 5 ¼” x 4
  • DSP – 3 x 3” (2)
  • Ribbon – 16”

Instructions:

  • With the second largest circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies, die cut a circle from the 3 x 3” Basic White Cardstock. Stamp the “Noel” sentiment with Real Red ink.
  • Stamp the “Joyous” sentiment in the middle of the Noel sentiment with Shaded Spruce ink.
  • With the second largest circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies, die cut two circles from each of the DSP squares.
  • Emboss the 5 ¼” x 4” Shaded Spruce Cardstock with the Mery Melody 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Glue each DSP circle to Shaded Spruce – aligning one circle to the left and one circle to the right.
  • Wrap ribbon around this panel and tie a bow.
  • Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the greeting and place on card front, between the two DSP circles.
  • Color three Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels with Dark Real Red Stampin’ Blends Combo Pack. Place on card front.
  • Adhere remaining 5 ¼” x 4” Basic White Cardstock to the center of the card.

Sometimes it’s nice to have that one card layout you can use for any card. It works well with an assortment of patterned papers, stamp sets, and themes. Today, I share one of those layouts with you. 

Please enjoy this free card-making tutorial with step-by-step instructions that uses Stampin’ Up!’s Joy to You stamp set and the Merry Bold and Bright 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • STAMPS – Joy to You Stamp Set (162090)
  • PAPER – Poppy Parade Cardstock (119793), Granny Apple Green Cardstock (146990), Basic White Cardstock (159276), Merry Bold & Bright Designer Series Paper (DSP) (161945)
  • INK – Granny Apple Green (147095)
  • OTHER –Parakeet Party 1/8” Metallic Woven Ribbon, Stampin’ Seal (152813), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755)

Cutting & Scoring:  

  • Poppy Parade Cardstock – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”
  • Basic White Cardstock – 5 ¼” x 2”, 4 ½” x 2”, 3 ¼” x 2 ¼”, 5 ¼” x 4”
  • Granny Apple Green Cardstock – 3 ½” x 2 ½”
  • DSP – 5” x 1 ¾” (Fa La La Design), 4 ¼” x 1 ¾” (Red Hat design)
  • Parakeet Party 1/8” Metallic Woven Ribbon – 8”

Instructions:

  • Stamp the sentiment on the 3 ¼” x 2 ¼” Basic White Cardstock. Layer on the Granny Apple Green Cardstock.
  • Attach the Fa La La DSP to the 5 ¼” x 2” Basic White Cardstock. Adhere the Red Hat DSP to the 4 ½” x 2” Basic White Cardstock.
  • On the folded Poppy Parade card base, add the panels, beginning on the left with the Fa La La layer, as shown above.
  • Tie a bow with the ribbon and place on the card front, right above the sentiment.
  • Adhere the remaining Basic White Cardstock to the middle of the card.

Here’s another example of this same layout using the Good Feelings stamp set and the Merry Bold and Bright Designer Series Paper. I love how this double-sided, patterned paper works well for both holiday and Christmas designs, as well as others.

Anyone ready for fall once the calendar turns to September? I know I’m ready to get a bit cooler temps and to enjoy being outside. That goes for my crafting, too. With the release of Stampin’ Up!’s brand-new September-December 2023 Mini Catalog, I’m loving digging into the great new products for fall, Halloween, winter, and Christmas crafting.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • STAMPS – Pick of the Patch Bundle (162201), Circle Sayings Bundle (161355)
  • PAPER – Pretty Peacock Cardstock (150880), Crumb Cake Cardstock (120953), Glorious Gingham 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper (DSP) (163170)
  • INK – Pretty Peacock (150083), Pecan Pie (161665)
  • OTHER –Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder (159847), Stylish Shapes Dies (159183), Linen Thread (104199), Tinsel Gems Four-Pack (161623), Stampin’ Seal (152813), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (149653)

Cutting & Scoring:  

  • Pretty Peacock Cardstock – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, scored and folded at 4 ¼”, 3” x 3”
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock – 5 ¼” x 4”, 3” x 3”, and scraps
  • DSP (Pretty Peacock design) – 5 ¼” x ¾”
  • Linen Thread – 20”

Instructions:

  • Emboss the 5 ¼” x 4” Crumb Cake Cardstock with the Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder, leaving a blank space in the bottom right-hand corner.
  • Add the DSP to the card front, about one-quarter of the way up.
  • Wrap the Linen Thread around this layer and tie a bow. Add this layer to the Pretty Peacock card base.
  • Stamp the Celebrate circle sentiment on the 3” x 3” Crumb Cake Cardstock with Pecan Pie ink. Punch with the 2 3/8” Circle Punch. Die cut a circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies with the 3” x 3” Pretty Peacock Cardstock. Layer these two pieces.
  • Stamp the smaller pumpkin in Pretty Peacock ink on the Crumb Cake scrap and punch. Stamp the stem with Pecan Pie ink on a Crumb Cake scrap and punch. Add the stem to the pumpkin. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the pumpkin in the middle of the circle.
  • Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the circle and add to card front in the lower right-hand corner, as shown above.
  • Place three Pretty Peacock gems on the card front.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • STAMPS – Beautiful Balloons Bundle (161457)
  • PAPER – Berry Burst Cardstock (144243) Thick Basic White Cardstock (1592296), Basic White Cardstock (159276), Bright & Beautiful 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper (161449)
  • INK – Bubble Bath (161664), Berry Burst (147143)
  • OTHER – Baker’s Twine Essential Pack (155475), Stampin’ Seal (152813), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (149653)

Cutting & Scoring:  

  • Berry Burst Cardstock – 3 ¼” x 4 ¾”, 4 ¼” x ¾”
  • Thick Basic White Cardstock – 8 ½” x 4 ¼”, scored at 4 ¼”
  • Basic White Cardstock – 3” x 2”
  • DSP – 4 ½” x 3”
  • White Bakers’ Twine – 6”

Instructions:

  • With the Thick Basic White Cardstock base folded in half, stamp the long ribbon stamp four times, staggering, with the Bubble Bath ink.
  • Attach the DSP to the Berry Burst 3 ¼” x 4 ¾” Cardstock. Glue all to card front, centering this piece.
  • Die cut the 4 ¼” x ¾” Berry Burst Cardstock with the fringe die. Attach to card front, as shown above.
  • Stamp the large balloon image with Bubble Bath ink on the 3” x 2” Basic White Cardstock. Stamp the “You Did It” sentiment directly on top of the balloon with Berry Burst ink.
  • Die cut the balloon.
  • Using Stamin’ Dimensionals, attach the balloon to the card front on top of the fringe.
  • Tie a bow with the White Baker’s Twine and attach it to the balloon with a Glue Dot.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • STAMPS – Beautiful Balloons (161450), Circle Sayings (161348)
  • PAPER – Berry Burst Cardstock (144243) Basic White Cardstock (159276), Bright & Beautiful 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper (161449)
  • INK – Berry Burst (147143), Misty Moonlight (153118)
  • OTHER – Rhinestone Basic Jewels (144220) Stampin’ Seal (152813), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755)

Cutting & Scoring:  

  • Berry Burst Cardstock – 11” x 4 ¼”, scored and folded at 5 ½”, 4, 1 1/4″´x 5 ¼” (2)
  • DSP — 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ (2)
  • Basic White Cardstock – 5 ¼” x 2 ½”, 5 ¼” x 4” (2)

Instructions:

  • Adhere each of the two DSP pieces to one of the 5 ¼” x 4” Basic White Cardstock pieces – flush with each edge. Glue the two small Berry Bursts strips next to each of the DSP pieces.
  • Glue this piece to the Berry Burst card base.
  • Begin stamping on the 5 ¼” x 2 ½” Basic White Cardstock. Start with the “Let’s get our celebration on” sentiment in Berry Burst and work your way down.
  • Next, stamp the large balloon with Misty Moonlight ink.
  • Stamp the tassel in Berry Burst ink.
  • And, last, stamp the “Happy Birthday Sentiment” from the Circle Sayings stamp set in Misty Moonlight.
  • Place Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of this piece and place on card front, positioning it between the two Berry Burst strips.
  • Add a Rhinestone Back Jewel to the balloon, as shown above.
  • Glue remaining Basic White Cardstock to the center of the card so you can write a personal message.
