Stampin’ Up!’s Reindeer Fun Bundle offers lots of opportunity to create super cute handmade greeting cards. (Click here to see one post.) But, I’ve also made some adorable DIY gift packaging. By folding the bag and adding a decorative belly band, you create two pockets that allow you to include any number of small gift items. I added a hot chocolate packet, candy cane, and chocolate. But you could include a greeting card, gift card, other candy, etc.
In today’s post, I share two versions of this fun gift packaging idea with you.
Measurements and Details
Flat paper sack measuring 7 1/2 x 5.
From the bottom, fold up approximately two inches.
Add a belly band measuring 12 x 2: Reindeer Days 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper, creating a front pocket. I adhered the belly band in the front and covered it with the circle.
Stylish Shapes Die circle die cut with Real Red card stock and embossed with Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Powder.
Deer stamped with Early Espresso ink on Basic Beige card stock. Added harness with Real Red ink. Die cut with Reindeer Fun coordinating die.
Real Red & White Baker’s Twine
See another version below. I used the holly dies from the Reindeer Fun Dies with the Festive 12 x 12 Glimmer Paper and the Reindeer Days Designer Series Paper.

Raise your hand if you’re a collector of Designer Series Papers. Count me in, too! I love all of Stampin’ Up!’s papers, including it’s double-sided patterned designs. Not only do I love collecting the paper, but I love using it, as well.
For today’s card, I’m sharing a simple Designer Series Paper (DSP, for short) technique that works really well with the “scenery” designs.
Here are some measurements and information to help you get started:
Wild Wheat card stock base measuring 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4
A 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 piece of your choice of Designer Series Paper. I used the Splendid Autumn 6 x 6 DSP for this first card.
Cut the DSP in strips at 1 1/4, 1, 3/4, and 1/2
Space these pieces out and attach to a piece of Cajun Craze card stock measuring 4 1/2 x 3
Pop this up on card front
Stamp sentiment with Cajun Craze ink on a piece of Crushed Curry card stock measuring 4 3/4 x 1/2. Find the congrats sentiment comes in the Sweetly Scripted stamp set, one of Stampin’ Up!’s Online Exclusives.
Pop up the sentiment on card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Add gems!
Here’s another card using this cutting technique with Stampin’ Up!’s Thoughtful Journey 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.

There’s no doubt Stampin’ Up! offers the most gorgeous Designer Series Paper in the industry. Not only does Stampin’ Up! give us a wide array of 6 x 6 and 12 x 12 designs, the variety of images and patterns provide so many options for our paper crafting projects. Sometimes, it’s difficult to choose which side of the paper to use.
Today, I’m sharing a card layout that allows you to use both sides. This works especially well for the 6 x 6 scenery paper, including the Meandering Meadows 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper. It’s one of the Online Exclusives. Let me know if I can help you order this beautiful paper.
Take a look at the inside of this card.
Meandering Meadow Card Design
Here are a few details to help you understand how this card comes together:
Designer Series Paper measuring 5 1/2 x 6. Score 1 3/4 inches in from the right-hand side.
Coordinating solid card stock color measuring 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. (I used Shaded Spruce for this card.)
Basic White card stock measuring 5 1/2 x 2 1/4
Any sentiment and embellishments for card front. I used Layering Leaves, Shaded Spruce, the Heartfelt Hexagon punch, Linen Thread, and the Adhesive-Backed Dragonflies & Birds.

This month, we feature cards and projects with a Mother’s Day theme. Today, I share a handmade greeting card using the fractured card technique or faux shutter technique.
Mother’s Day Fractured Card Technique
There are several ways to accomplish this technique. I chose the simplest. Here are some basic measurements to get you started.
Basic Black cardstock base measuring 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/5
Designer Series Paper measuring 5 1/4 x 4 (I used the retiring Delightfully Eclectic, but many other patterned papers work well)
Four cardstock strips matching your card base measuring 5 1/2 x 1/4
A Basic White square (I die cut mine with the Stylish Shapes Dies)
Sentiment and ink of choice (I used the “So Happy to Celebrate You from the Layering Leaves stamp set for the outside and the Happy Mother’s Day from Perennial Lavender for the inside. Flowers come from Petal Park stamp set.)
How to Video
Be sure to watch the video below. I offer step-by-step instructions for creating this handmade Mother’s Day card from my craft room in Mesa, Arizona.
