Playful Alphabet Baby Card

Playful Alphabet Baby Card

From the moment I saw the Hats Off Bundle in Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog, I knew I needed it in my collection. I figured I would use it a lot for my husband’s family — a family of avid baseball fans. It’s been rewarding to create hats for everyone’s favorite team using the Playful Alphabet Dies.

See this blog post for a sampling of other cards created with the fun bundle.

And, this bundle came to the rescue again as I needed a baby boy card. I was happy to create a fresh and fun looking, handmade greeting card with supplies I actually have on hand.

Playful Alphabet Baby Card

I used the following products for today’s card:

  • Hats Off Bundle (#158361). Includes the Hats Off stamp set and Hat Builder Dies. Buy them as a bundle and save 10 percent.
  • Stitched with Whimsy Dies (#155314)
  • Playful Alphabet Dies (#152806)
  • Subtles 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper Stack (#155229) — Balmy Blue pattern
  • Foam Adhesive Sheets (#141825) — these are used to “pop” up the letters and give them some depth.

Playful Alphabet Halloween Card

Playful Alphabet Halloween Card

My card features a host of products and a fun technique, most importantly the rubbing alcohol and Stampin’ Blends technique. I love the results this technique produces. See this additional blog post for other examples of this.

Rubbing Alcohol and Stampin’ Blends Technique

Here are some basic directions to achieve this cool background.

  • Scribble or color with your choice of Stampin’ Blends on a piece of Stampin’ Up!’s vellum.
  • Pour some 91 percent Isopropyl Alcohol into a small container.
  • Dip a paint brush into the alcohol and drip and/or touch the liquid to the colored markings.
  • Watch it do its magic or use a straw or your breath to move the colors around.
  • Let it dry.
  • Once the vellum is dry, I adhere a piece of Stampin’ Up!’s Adhesive Sheets to the back of the vellum.
  • I remove the adhesive backing and attach it to a piece of card stock. The example above shows Basic White.
  • For today’s card, I die cut the piece with a layer from the Stitched Rectangle Dies.
  • Use the piece any way you like!

I also used a few other products to complete this design:

Here’s a quick video to help you understand the process.

Textures & Frames Hinge-Step Stamping

Textures & Frames Hinge-Step Stamping

Be sure to take advantage of Stampin’ Up!’s SaleABration promotion. Receive free, exclusive stamp sets, Designer Series Paper packs, and dies with minimum purchases. The sale ends September 30, 2021. That’s about two weeks away. Who doesn’t love free?

A couple of the offerings coordinate with holiday and winter themes and stamp sets. While you may not be in the mood for holiday crafting now, this promotion offers the perfect opportunity for you to save money on your future crafting.

For the last several months, I’ve been playing with all of the free offerings. I try to make as many cards (as time allows) with the sets, papers, and dies. The Textures & Frames photopolymer stamp set (free with a $50 purchase before tax and shipping), lends itself to a variety of background stamp techniques. See this post for a host of other card examples.

Stampin' Up! Textures & Frames

Today’s card uses the Stamparatus, Stampin’ Up!’s stamp positioning tool, to create a fun background for a bright and cheery birthday card. The Stamparatus sells for $49. Add some adhesive or card stock to your order, and you can choose the Textures & Frames stamp set (or any of the other level one choices — free).

The video below shows how I created this multi-color background with one of the design images from the set. The “candles” use another of the images; I added rhinestones to act as the flames on the candles. I created the different color candles by applying ink from Stampin’ Up!’s Stampin’ Write markers directly to the stamp. The birthday sentiments comes from the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. If you live near Mesa, Arizona, I teach stamping classes and host other fun events. Contact me for more details.

Counting Sheep Mirror Image

Stampin’ Up!’s Stamparatus, a stamp positioning tool, makes stamping easier for a number of reasons. It helps you:

  • get your images and sentiments straight, time after time;
  • re-stamp an image if it’s not dark enough;
  • stamp repeat images evenly; and
  • handle the stamping process smoothly, especially if you have arthritic or weak hands.

Stamparatus Reflection Technique Video

And, it lends itself well to some fun techniques, including the mirror image technique. It’s the technique that allows the two sheep to look at each other in the card above.

I used that technique on today’s card with one of the sheep stamps from Stampin’ Up!’s Counting Sheep stamp set. This set and its coordinating Sheep Dies are available during SaleABration — through September 30, 2021. Earn each of these products free with a minimum purchase of $50 (before tax and shipping) for each.

See this post for a variety of other card ideas using these fun, exclusive, and limited-time products.

Be sure to watch the video below to view a visual of how this technique works.

SaleABration

It’s exciting that Stampin’ Up! offers TWO Sale-A-Bration sales this year. It gives the ability two times each year to earn FREE product with qualifying purchases of $50 and $100. You choose from exclusive stamp sets, Designer Series Paper, and die cuts.

Just a note: the Sheep Dies are available while supplies last. If they are a must-have for you, get them sooner rather than later. Free with a $50 purchase before tax and shipping. Click here to see a PDF of the Sale-A-Bration brochure.
