“On trend” accurately describes the new offerings in Stampin’ Up!’s 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. Each year, the designers diligently research what’s in and what’s not. The colors and designs come to life in the form of new rubber stamps, ink, papers, and more.
The tie dye scene is back, and I see it all over in an array of clothing items and more. The new Spiral Dye background stamp offers a fun way to replicate this fun and colorful look on paper. Find the cling stamp on page 118. It sells for $17.
I used it to create the focal point for birthday cards. This technique works best with a Stamparatus. Align your paper on the Stamparatus. I used the Basic White. Ink your stamp with your first color and stamp onto the cardstock. Clean the stamp (I use Simply Shammy). Turn the stamped card stock 180-degrees. Ink the stamp with another coordinating color. Stamp the image on top of your already stamped piece. The result is a fun design. (FYI: I used Fresh Freesia and Pale Papaya.)
I created the sentiment with the Happy Thoughts stamp set (January-June 2021 Mini Catalog) and the Tasteful Labels Dies. In addition, I used the Pale Papaya Open Weave Ribbon and the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels.

Looking for a fun technique? Try stamping on embossing folders! I admit I’m not the first one to try this cool stamping trick, but it’s a wow! It’s especially fun with Stampin’ Up!’s Woodland Embossing Folder. This great folder is being retired from the product line and is on sale for $7.65. As of Tuesday, April 27, 2021, it is still available for purchase. Get it while supplies last or before May 3, whichever comes first.
In fact, be sure to check the Last-Chance Products Sale to see which products are leaving (some are on sale up to 60 percent off). We need to make room for brand-new goodies available May 4 when the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog goes live. Shop soon to get the products you want!
I used two other retiring products on this card: the Winter Woods stamp set (trees) and Butterfly Gala (sentiment). In addition, I created the background with Stampin’ Up!’s Blending Brushes and Balmy Blue ink.
Be sure to watch the video below for a look at how the great technique works! You’ll want to purchase this folder just to try this. It also works well with the deer from the current Nature’s Beauty stamp set as well as old trucks from previous sets.

You can also add any sentiment to this card and make it work. I like it for a masculine card and lends itself to a wintry scene for holiday cards, too.

It’s that time of year where we anxiously await the debut of Stampin’ Up!’s new Annual Catalog. But, we also mourn the loss of some of our favorite products. (Some things must go to make room for more!)
The Boho Indigo Product Medley finds itself on the retiring list. What a great value at $70. It includes a stamp set, coordinating dies, a lovely package of Designer Series Paper with pre-embossed Very Vanilla components, two ribbons, tags, and flowers. Sorry, the refill kit is sold out.
Boho Indigo Thank You Card Free Tutorial
Stampin’ Up! Supplies:
STAMPS – Boho Indigo Product Medley (153132)
PAPER – Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock (144237), Very Vanilla Cardstock (101650), Misty Moonlight Cardstock (153081), Gold Foil Sheets (132622), Designer Series Paper (DSP) in Boho Indigo Product Medley (155132)
Very Vanilla Thick – 11” x 4 ¼”, score and fold at 5 ½”,
Very Vanilla – 5 ¼” x 4”, 2” x 3 ½” scrap (2)
Misty Moonlight – Scraps
Designer Series Paper – 3” x 3”
Instructions:
Emboss the Very Vanilla panel with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.
Glue the DSP to the embossed panel, leaving an equal border along the top and sides.
Add a 5 ½” length of the gold ribbon immediately below the bottom of the DSP. Adhere to the card base.
Stamp the sentiment and the vase using Misty Moonlight ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. Punch the sentiment with Double Oval Punch. Use the scallop portion of the punch to punch the Misty Moonlight layer for the sentiment.
Die-cutting – Die-cut one Misty Moonlight sprig and one Gold Foil sprig. Die-cut the vase with the corresponding die.
Adhere the two sprigs to the back of the vase. Dimensional the vase in place.
Afix the sentiment oval to the scalloped oval. Add this unit to the card front with dimensionals.
I used this medley to create a variety of other cards:

Are you a beginning stamper with just a few supplies? Do you love the art and craft of rubber stamping but just don’t have a lot of time? Are you short of space and can only store limited stamps? Do you need a quick and easy, clean and simple card?
What is #simplestamping?
Stampin’ Up!’s #simplestamping is for you! It focuses on using just rubber stamps, ink, and paper to create quick, easy, and cute handmade greeting cards.
Each month, Stampin’ Up! issues demonstrators a challenge. This month: Employ the #simplestamping technique with your favorite retiring product in a thank-you card format.
I have a lot of favorites retiring from Stampin’ Up’s 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. (A new catalog debuts May 4. To make room for new goodies, some things have to go.) But one I’ve used a lot is Rooted in Nature. It includes a host of tree and nature images and features versatile sentiments.
(To browse the list of retiring items and those discounted, click here and then click on Specials and Last Chance Product List.)
This stamp set is slated to retire; it’s not available after May 3 (or while supplies last). Enjoy these card samples. They go together quickly, especially when using Stampin’ Up!’s Very Vanilla Notecards and Envelopes. Already cut and scored, you receive 20 cards and envelopes for $7. Just add stamps, ink, and paper.
Rooted in Nature #simplestamping Cards
For these cards, I used:
Pieces from the In Good Taste 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper. I love the wood grain designs featured on some of the sheets.
Early Espresso ink and card stock and Garden Green ink and card stock
Very Vanilla Notecards and Envelopes
With this technique, you can make a set of cards quickly and easily. Send them out or package them up and give them as gifts.
Be sure to view the video below (a Facebook live replay) to see how these cards go together.
To see a more intricate card using this stamp set and the coordinating Nature’s Root Dies, see this post.
