Retirement Card Samples

Today, I’m sharing some retirement card samples.

Retirement Card Samples

Just this last Friday, my husband, Pat, worked his last day! He retired after a twenty-six-year career at State Farm. That career took us many places. From Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, to Thief River Falls, Minnesota, to Woodbury, Minnesota, to Lincoln, Nebraska, and finally to Mesa, Arizona. Through our travels, we met a host of awesome people we call friends. State Farm treated us well. We’re glad to have had the opportunity to work for them.

We’ve been celebrating all weekend. As a stamper, I had to create my own card to congratulate him! There’s no going to the store to purchase one. Both of us love the beach and the ocean. I created a dream vacation scene with Stampin’ Up!’s Waterfront stamp set. It offers a host of images to craft a variety of nature scenes.

I also used the Seabed 3D Embossing Folder and the colors of Night of Navy and Mango Melody. The sentiment comes from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set. It was punched with Stampin’ Up!’s Classic Label Punch.

It’s been fun for Pat as he hears from people he’s met throughout his career. He appreciates everyone wishing him well. For the time being, we plan to stay in Mesa, Arizona, and use our home as a base to travel. We look forward to spending time together trying new restaurants and seeing new places.

A few of my crafty friends have sent handmade congratulations cards. I share them below.

#simplestamping

Recently, Stampin’ Up! has focused on #simplestamping: the art of creating a handmade card with just rubber stamps, ink, and paper. After all, these provide the underpinnings of paper crafting. It allows us to focus on the basics of the craft, and we realize we can make beautiful projects with a handful of supplies. It’s a great place to start for beginning stampers, and it challenges seasoned stampers to step away from the extras.

Each month, Stampin’ Up! issues a #simplestamping challenge. For October, it calls for using rubber stamps, ink, paper, and ribbon with a thank you card.

Designer Series Paper Sale

I combined the challenge with the Designer Series Paper sale effective through October 31, 2020. Fifteen of Stampin’ Up!’s double-sided, patterned papers are 15 percent off. It includes selections from both the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog and the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog. See the PDF here, or click on the photos at the end of the post to check them out and shop.

#simplestamping Using Designer Series Paper

I love this card design because it showcases both sides of the paper. That’s often the most difficult part of crafting: choosing which side to use! Note: It uses the Playing with Patterns.

Here are a few cutting details. (Be sure to watch the video below showing how this design goes together. See other cards using the paper currently offered on the sale.)

  • Card stock for the base: 5 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches, scored at 1 inch on the 5 1/4-inch side.
  • A piece of patterned paper cut at 5 1/2 x 4.
  • Complementary ribbon.
  • A sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today. Please message me or leave a comment if you have questions about today’s card or the paper sale. Click here to begin shopping. If you’re not currently working with another demonstrator, I’d love to help you with your card-making and memory keeping projects.

Join me Tuesday mornings at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time for a Facebook Live on my Facebook business page. I show fun and easy stamping projects.

How To Create a Seasonal Frame

Learn how to create a seasonal frame! Keep reading to view a video tutorial on making this fun fall home decor item.

How to Create a Fall Seasonal Frame

Stampin’ Up! products lend themselves perfectly to card making, memory keeping projects, treat packages, and even home decor. I created this fall seasonal frame to use as a decoration in my home.

(See this additional post featuring holiday frames. Do you prefer the traditional or whimsical?)

Here are some of the details about this fall-themed frame. Purchased at Ikea, the frame holds a 5 x 7 insert.

  • The bottom layer of Mango Melody card stock measures 5 x 7.
  • Next layer of Basic Black card stock measures 4 1/4 x 6 1/4 inches.
  • The patterned paper — Plaid Tidings — measures 4 x 6. (Note: This 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper is 15 percent off through October 31, 2020.)
  • Leaves cut with die from Gathered Leaves Dies in coordinating colors of (left to right): Cherry Cobbler, Cinnamon Cider, Mango Melody, and Cajun Craze.
  • Letters die cut in Basic Black card stock with Playful Alphabet Dies.
  • Ribbon is a 7-inch piece of Black Glittered Organdy.
  • Embellishments are the Holiday Rhinestones.

Think about all of the different holidays where you could create a seasonal frame!

Maui Achievers October 2020 Blog Hop Projects

I love many things about Stampin’ Up! products. I love the color coordination. The card stock matches the ink matches the markers matches the ribbon matches the ribbon. You get the idea! But I also appreciate the product versatility. The stamps, ink, paper, and accessories lend themselves to a variety of projects, in addition to greeting cards and memory keeping. I enjoy creating home decor with my Stampin’ Up! goodies.

Today, I’m sharing two holiday themed framed projects — one a bit more traditional and the other whimsical. Which  is your favorite?

The “Joy” frame uses the the Red Velvet 12 x 12 paper from Stampin’ Up!’s August-December Mini Catalog, as well as the Playful Alphabets Dies and the Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.

Stampin’ Friends Fall Card Sample

What do you love most about fall? The cooler temperatures? The taste and smell of pumpkin spice? The brilliant fall colors and the changing of the seasons?

For me, it’s the fall foliage. That’s what I miss most about living in the Midwest. You can see some color change here in Arizona, but not as much as the brilliant maples of Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. (I won’t, however, miss the snow when it falls in the Midwest!)

Today’s card and 3D treat package reflect some of that beautiful fall color.

Stampin' Friends Fall Card

This card uses:

  • A Blackberry Bliss card stock base
  • Gold Foil layer measuring 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Very Vanilla layer measuring 5″ x 3 3/4″ embossed with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder
  • Gold Foil cut with largest scallop circle from Layering Circles Dies
  • Blackberry Bliss — largest stitched circle from Stitched Shapes Dies
  • Leaf from Gathered Leaves Dies cut out of Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper (Guess what? The Plaid Tidings 6 x 6 paper is on sale–15 percent off through October 31, 2020!)
  • Two leaves cut in Mango Melody and Cajun Craze card stock
  • Sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink and punched with Classic Label Punch
  • Bow created with Gold Cord (part of the Wonder of the Season Ribbon Combo Pack)

And, I made a matching treat box with one of Stampin’ Up!’s Gold Mini Pizza Boxes, using many of the same ingredients as the card above. Lots of fun treats fit in this gorgeous box.
