Beautiful Butterflies Shaped Card

I’m a huge fan of Stampin’ Up!’s hybrid embossing folders. These unique folders allow you to both emboss and die cut at the same time. But when I discovered that the Beautiful Butterflies Bundle also created shaped cards, I was sold. Find this bundle in Stampin’ Up!’s January-April 2025 Mini Catalog.

Beautiful Butterflies Bundle

Measurements and Details

Aren’t these cards super cute? Here are a few details to help you make this at home.

  • Stampin’ Up! designed its Basic White Note Cards and Envelopes to use with the shape-maker die. (Receive 20 precut and scored note cards and envelopes for just $10).
  • Fold the note card in half, place the die on top of both layers, lining up the top of the die just above the folded note card. Be sure to watch the video below to see exactly how this works.
  • Choose an patterned paper and cut it to 5 x 3 1/2. I used the Floral Delight 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper.
  • Place the die cut on the patterned paper to get the butterfly layer.
  • Glue the Designer Series Paper to the white note card. I found that using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue gave me time to get the die cut straight on the card.
  • Die cut the label, included in the dies you receive.
  • With a Blending Brush, apply a light layer of Daffodil Delight ink on the label.
  • Stamp the sentiment with Memento Black ink.
  • Tie a bow in 9 inches of the 1/8″ Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon. Add to card front.
  • Layer the sentiment, with Stampin’ Dimensionals, over the top of the ribbon.
  • Add Daffodil Delight gems from the Glossy Dots Assortment.

Angle Cut Card Samples

While in Raleigh, North Carolina, for Stampin’ Up!’s annual demonstrator gathering, I received a host of really fun swap cards. See that video by clicking here.

I really love a card I received from Cindy Westerink of Michigan. It uses a cutting technique I haven’t tried before. Today, I want to share that with you.

Here’s a look at Cindy’s card. She uses the awesome new Botanical Textures Suite Collection.

You can use this angle cut with a variety of patterned papers, card stock, rubber stamps, and dies. And, this technique helps you create three quick and easy cards. In addition, it shows off your pretty patterned paper and encourages you use your stash!

Measurements and Directions

  • Old Olive card stock base measuring 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4
  • Daffodil Delight card stock panel measuring 5 1/4 x 4
  • Three pieces of coordinating Designer Series Paper measuring 4 7/8 x 3 7/8. I used Stampin’ Up!’s Floral Delight Designer Series Paper. Be sure to watch the video below to see how I measured the paper to make the cuts.
  • Stamp the sentiment from Kindest Expressions stamp set onto a die cut circle from Stylish Shapes Dies with Daffodil Delight ink
  • Layer on a circle from the Spotlight on Nature Dies cut from Old Olive.
  • Add coordinating ribbon and gems.

Here’s a picture of the three cards created with this angle cut card technique.

Documenting the Day

Have there been events, memories, days, and/or happenings you want to record? You can easily accomplish this with Stampin’ Up! products. In the last few months, Stampin’ Up! has been adding to its memory keeping collection by adding more 12 x 12 paper as well as Scrapbooking Workshop Kits and other items. Click here to explore the memory keeping options on Stampin’ Up!’s store.

In today’s post, I share a page I created to commemorate my niece’s 40th birthday. I’ll give this page to her so she can either frame it or include it in an album.

I haven’t scrapbooked in many years, so I called on my team member Lori Miller. For a recent team meeting, she demonstrated this fun page and shared her memory keeping journey.

Lori told us how she used a card sketch from page 22 of Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog as the inspiration for this page. I love it!
