Thanks for stopping by today! I’m part of the monthly Team Stamp It blog hop. Be sure to visit all of the blogs on the hop; each focuses on either fall/Thanksgiving and winter/Christmas. Leave a comment with the #stampitcontest and be entered to win the Notes of Kindness Card Kit.
Today, my card is all about the background. It almost looks like one of Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Papers, but it’s not. I used rubber cement. Yes, the kind from the office supply store.
I started by dropping the rubber cement with a toothpick onto a piece of Whisper White card stock (measuring 5 x 3 ¾ inches). I wanted to make it look like snow. I then let this piece dry thoroughly. For me, that was overnight.
I then used Stampin’ Up!’s Sponge Brayers to layer on Balmy Blue ink. I kept rolling until I got the desired darkness. Then, with a paper towel, I rubbed the rubber cement off of the card stock. I would call this an emboss-resist technique.
For the rest of the card, I used the Snowman Builder Punch to punch out a snowman from the Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper. (I love that some of the images can be punched directly from the Designer Series Paper.) I topped him with a hat punched from the Black Foil Sheets (and arms, too). The “snow” is a piece of the Sparkle Glimmer Paper die cut with a piece from In the Woods. It’s layered on Basic Black and Balmy Blue.
