A Fall Thanks!

Hello Stampers!

As promised, here is the second card we created in last week’s Seasonally Scattered class. It was fun to show all of the attendees a new technique that I picked up from Susan Itell.

It was really cool to get the multicolored look with this stamp, Ink the image in Crushed Curry. Dip a sponge dauber in a
Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin’ Pad. Then dab it all over the Crushed Curry. Ink another dauber in Old Olive and dab it all over the stamp. Press the stamp to your paper, and you have a fun, multicolored image! And, each image will look totally different.

(It would also be fun to try to the baby wipe technique with this card. Grab a baby wipe (put a protective surface underneath), and add drops of Stampin’ Up!’s reinkers. You could use the colors listed above. Press the stamp to the baby wipe and then to the card.)

The other Stampin’ Up! products used in this card include:

  • Hardwood background stamp
  • Oval Accent Bigz Clear
  • 1/8-inch Old Olive Taffeta
  • Pearl Basic Jewels colored with Stampin’ Blendabilities

All of these products can be purchased 24/7 from my online store. Click here.

Love is in the Air with Seasonally Scattered

Hello Stampers!

Playing with a new set from Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Catalog called Seasonally Scattered. For last week’s class, I decided to make a wedding card with this set using a layout I saw both at convention and from Kimberly VanDiepen. See the photo below for the inside of this cool, but elegant card.

  • I embossed the front of a piece of Basic Black card stock with the Lovely Lace Embossling Folder
  • I stamped the “love” image from Seasonally Scattered in Memento Tuxedo Black on a piece of Whisper White card stock measuring 10 inches by just under 2. I punched the end with the Scallop Tag Topper punch.
  • The white piece was adhered to the center of the card and folded over the top of the BB piece. (See photo below.)
  • I punched two BB black 2 1/2-inch circles and adhered them to both sides of a Tea Lace Paper Doily and adhered that piece to the back of the “love” sentiment.
  • Topped it off with 5/8-inch White Organza Ribbon, tied with a small piece of 1/8-inch Basic Black Taffeta.
  • Stamped the sentiment inside from Petite Pairs.

There you have it! Stay tuned for another card from this versatile set.

It’s a Beauty!

Hello Stampers!

Good news! Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Catalog debuts today! It’s a beauty and so is the stamp set used in the above project. It’s called Beauty of the Season! (Wood #135776 $21.95/Clear #135779 $16.95)

For this project (inspired by Janet Wakeland):

  • I cleaned a tile (found at a local hardware store)
  • Rubbed the embossing buddy across the blank slate
  • Inked the cardinal image with Versamark ink
  • Stamped the tile
  • Sprinkled black embossing powder on the tile
  • Shook off the excess
  • Heat embossed with heat gun (The stone will become very hot. You’ll want to let it cool.)
  • Colored the image with Stampin’ Up!’s Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive Blendabilities Markers

Love it!

Feeling Flamingo Happy!

Hello Stampers!

Flamingos make me smile! That’s probably because they conjure images of summers and beaches and carefree fun! I wanted to create a card to thank a friend for the gift of some fun flamingo beach chair clips. The Flamingo Lingo set is the perfect choice.

In addition to sporting cheerful images, it is this year’s Ronald McDonald House stamp set. What that means is that Stampin’ Up! donates $3 from the sale of each of these sets to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. To date, Stampin’ Up! has contributed more than $1 million to RMCH.

I used a variety of other Stampin’ Up! products to make this “summery” card.

  • Work of Art Stamp Set
  • Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set
  • Scalloped Tag Topper
  • Petite Petals Punch
  • Project Life Corner Rounder
  • Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist, and Strawberry Slush Classic Stampin’ Pads
  • Strawberry Slush Thick Baker’s Twine

Bridal Shower Fun!

Picture

In the top photo, I used leftovers from a Paper Pumpkin kit to create the receptacle for the recipes the guests brought for the bride. On the right, the Tag Topper Punch and the In Colors Paper Stack worked well to make the welcome treats. At the bottom, I was able to use MDS to create custom inserts for the guest book.

Hello  Stampers!

I love Stampin’ Up! for many, many reasons! The products offered make it so easy to coordinate a fun and festive event. A friend and I recently hosted a bridal shower for another friend’s daughter. Of course, I volunteered to make the invitations and be in charge of a few of the “papery” details. Luckily, the bride’s colors were very close to Blackberry Bliss and Tangelo Twist. The matching ribbon and paper made it fun and easy.

The hostess framed the shower invitation and placed it on the food table. I used the Blackberry Bliss and Tangelo Twist In Colors. (The stamp sets I used are retired because we wanted to match the bride’s theme.) The treats in the bowl were also made with a retired stamp set — It’s a Wrap. I stamped the image in Blackberry Bliss and Tangelo twist.

Yum! We served mimosas! For an extra touch, we tied some Blackberry Bliss and Tangelo Twist ribbon on the glass stems.
