“It’s Retiring” Challenge

Picture

Hello Stampers!

This festive birthday card was created with the Big News stamp set, and the bad new is it’s retiring. After May 31, we won’t be able to order it from Stampin’ Up! Scroll way down, and you’ll see a list of all the stamp sets that are retiring to make room for more great stamp sets. Click on any of the images to purchase these sets, some at reduced prices.

I have a challenge for you today! Make a handmade card using any of the the retiring Stampin’ Up! stamp sets. Email me a picture of your card ([email protected]) by Monday, May 16. I’ll post your card on my site. And, I’ll draw one winner from all entries to receive a brand-new Pedal Pusher set. (Sorry, US entries only.) Please let me know if you have questions.

Enjoy! I can’t wait to see your creations!

So long, Swallowtail!

Picture

Hello Stampers!

If you haven’t heard, Stampin’ Up! is retiring a list of items to make room for brand-new, cool stamp sets, inks, papers, and accessories. This large background stamp, the Swallowtail, is one that will no longer be available beginning June 1. I love this image because it’s big; it takes up the whole card! It’s also beautiful!

To shop the list of retiring items, clickhere. Some of the products are up to 50 percent off.

Here, I’m showcasing the technique called Triple Time Stamping. (As a side note, I swapped this card while I was attending Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage event in Salt Lake City in April.)

It looks complicated, but once you have the measurements, you can use any combination of stamps to create this same effect. The Whisper White card stock is cut at 2 x 3 1/4, 3 x 4 1/4 and 4 x 5 1/4. The solid card stock is cut at 2 1/4 x 3 1/2, 3 1/4 by 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.

Layer and center the Whisper White card stock pieces on top of one another — with the smallest piece on the top. (You can use a smidge of adhesive to keep the pieces in place while you stamp.) Stamp the images on the card stock. In this case, I used a couple of images from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in Mint Macaron and Wisteria Wonder. The Swallowtail is stamped in Elegant Eggplant.

Separate the stamped images and layer each on the coordinating color card stock — in this case, Wisteria Wonder. I used a sentiment from the endless birthday stamp set and punched it with the Washi Label Punch. (I’m sorry, this punch has been retired and is sold out.)

I hope you enjoy creating a version of this card with other colors or using a variety of other images.

Make-A-Wish Monday with Washi

Hello Stampers!

The volunteers from the Lincoln Community Women’s Club were here again recently. Once a month, they help make cards to be donated to the local Make-A-Wish Chapter.

This is one of the cards we made a couple of weeks ago. We covered a 3 x 3-inch square piece of Whisper White card stock with the bright and cheery It’s My Party Designer Washi Tape (#140556 – $8) and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430 – $4) onto a piece of Whisper White card stock cut at 5 x 3 3/4. That is layered on a piece of Melon Mambo card stock cut at 5 3/4 x 4. The gift is topped off with a piece of Black/Melon Mambo Baker’s Twine (#140555  – $6.50). The sentiment is from the And Many More stamp set (clear #134276 – $27.00). It’s stamped in Crushed Curry and punched with the Washi Label Punch (#138296 – $18).

It’s a fun, cute, and quick card Make-A-Wish will be able to send to any of their wish kids who are celebrating a birthday.

Look for these items in my online store. Shop 24/7.

Remember, Sale-A-Bration lasts just two more days. Receive a free stamp set or paper pack with a purchase of $50 (before tax and shipping).

Happy stamping!
