This month, we feature handmade cards and projects created with the color combination of Black, Gorgeous Grape, and Pumpkin Pie.

To me, these colors say Halloween. I immediately thought of the brand-new Halloween Spells 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper. Find this online as part of Stampin’ Up!’s brand-new scrapbooking release.

See this post for another card that uses this Halloween-themed paper.

I paired this patterned paper with Stampin’ Up!’s Choose Happy Stamp Set. This set contains a variety of words and images geared toward all four seasons.

Changing Leaves Two-Tone Congrats

Who doesn’t love the beauty of the fall? So gorgeous with the changing colors of the leaves and the vibrant regals. I’ve tried to depict that fall season with today’s post and featured card.

I use Stampin’ Up!’s Changing Leaves Bundle and the Autumn to Remember 12 x 12 Card Stock.

Changing Leaves Hybrid Embossing Folder Bundle
  • Find the Changing Leaves Bundle as one of Stampin’ Up!’s Online Exclusives. You won’t find this in a catalog, but it’s available in the online store. It’s been a hugely popular bundle and just recently came back into stock.
  • The Autumn to Remember 12 x 12 Card Stock is just one of the new releases in the scrapbooking line. You receive two sheets each of Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Early Espresso, and Petal Pink two-tone card stock. I love this paper because of its white core; it lends itself to many techniques, as you’ll see today.

Changing Leaves Two-Tone Congrats

  • Mossy Meadow Card Stock base measuring 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4

  • Crumb Cake layer measuring 5 x 3 3/4 embossed with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Powder

Splendid Autumn Card Sample

Raise your hand if you’re a collector of Designer Series Papers. Count me in, too! I love all of Stampin’ Up!’s papers, including it’s double-sided patterned designs. Not only do I love collecting the paper, but I love using it, as well.

For today’s card, I’m sharing a simple Designer Series Paper (DSP, for short) technique that works really well with the “scenery” designs.

The current “scenery” paper includes the Meandering Meadow, Thoughtful Journey, and Splendid Autumn 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.

Here’s a peek at the Splendid Autumn:

Cutting Directions

Here are some measurements and information to help you get started:

  • Wild Wheat card stock base measuring 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4
  • A 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 piece of your choice of Designer Series Paper. I used the Splendid Autumn 6 x 6 DSP for this first card.
  • Cut the DSP in strips at 1 1/4, 1, 3/4, and 1/2
  • Space these pieces out and attach to a piece of Cajun Craze card stock measuring 4 1/2 x 3
  • Pop this up on card front
  • Stamp sentiment with Cajun Craze ink on a piece of Crushed Curry card stock measuring 4 3/4 x 1/2. Find the congrats sentiment comes in the Sweetly Scripted stamp set, one of Stampin’ Up!’s Online Exclusives.
  • Pop up the sentiment on card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Add gems!

Here’s another card using this cutting technique with Stampin’ Up!’s Thoughtful Journey 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.

Alphabet A’ La Mode for Halloween

Alphabet A' La

When I hold my monthly in person stamping classes in my home in Mesa, Arizona, I love to give each stamper a fun treat packet.

This month, I created these cute little Boo! treat packets as my gift to them. I used the Alphabet A’ La Mode Dies. The dies let you spell any sentiment you want. And, once upon a time, Stampin’ Up! sold the clear boxes that measure about 3 1/4 x 3 1/4. I found some extras in my stash and decided to create something fun for Halloween. And, I filled them with Reese’s Peanut Butter ghosts!

These DIY treat boxes are perfect for those special trick or treaters, kids, nieces, nephews, and grandkids, too!

If you don’t have access to these clear boxes, the current Scalloped Gift Card Boxes would work, as well.

Alphabet A’ La Mode for Halloween Treat Box

Here are a few details and measurements to help you get started:

  • Alphabet A’ La Mode Dies with Granny Apply Green, Pumpkin Pie, and Gorgeous Grape card stock. Tip: Apply Adhesive Sheets to the back of the card stock before die cutting. I die cut all the pieces and then mixed and matched the letters.
  • Basic Black card stock die cut with circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies.
  • Halloween Spells 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper cut at 3 x 3. (Pieces of the Simply Zinnia Designer Series Paper — the Pumpkin Pie stars and Gorgeous Grape — would work well, too.)
  • Black & Very Vanilla 3/8″ Large Check Ribbon colored with Stampin’ Blends. I used both Gorgeous Grape and Pumpkin Pie.
  • Gems: The Gorgeous Grape gems from the Glossy Dots Assortment work, as do the Granny Apple Green gems from the Iridescent Adhesive-Backed Discs.

I hope you enjoy these cute little Halloween treat boxes. I know my stampers appreciated them this month.
