Stampin’ Up!’s Modern Christmas Suite Collection has been my “go-to” for holiday crafting. I just love the black and gold and white color combination. I’ve used it to create so many gorgeous Christmas cards and projects.

Today, I’m offering a free card-making tutorial to guide you in making your own holiday cards.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • STAMPS – Ornamental Christmas (165991)
  • PAPER – Modern Christmas 12 x 12 Specialty Designer Series Paper (165990), Basic Black Cardstock (121045), Basic White Cardstock (166780) Gold Foil Sheets (132622)
  • INK – Tuxedo Black Memento (132708)
  • OTHER – Black & White and Gold Baker’s Twine (166005), Traditional Sparkling Sequins (165875), 2 3/8” Circle Punch (161345), Stylish Shapes Dies (159183), Glass & Gardens Embossing Folders (165597), Stampin’ Seal (152813), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (149653)

Cutting & Scoring:  

  • Basic Black Cardstock – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, scored and folded at 4 ¼”
  • Basic White Cardstock – 5 ¼” x 4”
  • Modern Christmas 12 x 12 Specialty Designer Series Paper – one black and white tree panel – 1” x 5 ½”, 3 x 3 white tree panel
  • Gold Foil – 3” x 3”, 5 ¼” x 1 ¼”
  • Black & Gold & White Baker’s Twine – 24”

Instructions:

  • Emboss the top half of the 5 ¼” x 4” Basic White Cardstock with the Glass Embossing Folder.
  • Stamp the “Wishing You Peace & Joy” sentiment with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink in the lower right corner of this embossed piece.
  • Attach 1” x 5 ¼” Modern Christmas DSP to the 1 ¼” x 5 ¼” Gold Foil. Glue this to Basic White panel, just above the stamped sentiment.
  • Wrap baker’s twine around this panel and tie a bow.
  • Attach to Basic Black Card base.
  • Punch desired tree image from Modern Christmas DSP with 2 3/8” Circle Punch.
  • Die cut 3” x 3” Gold Foil with Stylish Shape circle.
  • Glue these circles together.
  • Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to add to card front on the left-hand side.
  • Add three Traditional Sparkling Sequins.

Label Me Grateful Christmas

Label Me Grateful Christmas

I’m a little late to the party with Stampin’ Up!’s Label Me Grateful Bundle. It’s been available for a number of months. I just recently purchased it because I really wanted one of the sentiments! It seems to lend itself to thankful and grateful-themed cards.

But as it sat on my craft table, I realized it would be perfect for any theme, including Christmas. So, today, I share a handmade greeting card using this bundle and a other Stampin’ Up! products. Be sure to watch the video to see how this card comes together.

  • Cherry Cobbler cardstock base measuring 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4
  • Traditions of Christmas 12 x 12 Specialty Designer Series Paper measuring 5 1/4 x 4. I love the gold accents in this gorgeous patterned paper.
  • Vellum cardstock measuring 4 1/4 x 4
  • Pool Party cardstock die cut with Label Me Grateful die
  • Image (from Stampin’ Up!’s Jolly Holly stamp set) stamped in Cherry Cobbler
  • Three flowers (Label Me Grateful Dies) die cut with Cherry Cobbler. Hint: I added a touch of gold foil behind the flower centers.

Modern Christmas in Green

My favorite patterned paper for creating with this holiday season is Stampin’ Up!’s Modern Christmas 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper. I so love the gold, black, and white combination.

However, I appreciate the traditional holiday colors of red and green. In today’s post, I share how I used this paper and transformed it into a Real Red and Old Olive beauty.

Measurements and Details

  • Real Red cardstock base measuring 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4
  • Old Olive Two-Tone cardstock measuring 5 1/4 x 4 and dry embossed with Traditional Wreath 3D Embossing Folder
  • Sand embossed image. drag Old Olive ink pad across embossed panel.
  • Tree pattern from the Modern Christmas 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper blended with Old Olive ink.
  • Punch circle with 2 3/8-inch Circle Punch.
  • Layer on Real Red cardstock die cut with Stylish Shapes Dies.
  • Sentiment from Holly Jolly stamp set stamped with Real Red ink on Old Olive Two-Tone Cardstock and die cut with Stylish Shapes Dies.
  • Traditional Sparkling Sequins.
  • Real Red 1/2-inch Shiny Ribbon

Here’s another version below. I just used regular Old Olive cardstock instead of the two-tone cardstock. Which version do you like best?

Ornamental Christmas Free Tutorial

I love the black, gold, and white color scheme of Stampin’ Up!’s Modern Christmas Suite Collection. It’s just so elegant and stunning. However, I realize that many people prefer the traditional holiday colors of red and green. So, I created a card sporting a traditional theme.

Peace & Joy Free Tutorial

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • STAMPS – Ornamental Christmas (165991)
  • PAPER – Christmas Tags & More 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper (165907), Real Red Cardstock (102482), Basic White Cardstock (166780)
  • INK – Real Red Classic Stampin’ Pad (147084), Garden Green Classic Stampin’ Pad (147089)
  • OTHER –Real Red & White Baker’s Twine (164051), Traditional Sparkling Sequins (165875), Stampin’ Seal (152813), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755)

Cutting & Scoring:  

  • Real Red Cardstock – 8 ½” x 5 ½”, scored and folded at 4 ¼”
  • Basic White Cardstock – 4 ¼” x 3 ¼”, 5 ¼” x 4”
  • Christmas Tags & More 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper – one plaid panel 5 ¼” x 4”, one Crumb Cake design 4 ¼” x ¾”
  • Real Red & White Baker’s Twine – 18”

Instructions:

  • Attach the 5 ¼” x 4” DSP to the Real Red card base.
  • Stamp the tree image in Garden Green ink on the right-hand side of the 4 ¼” x 3 ¼” Basic White Cardstock panel.
  • “Mask off” (cover up with a Post It Note) the words “Wishing You” from the stamp. Carefully ink the Peace & Joy portion with Real Red ink. Remove the Post It Note before stamping on the white card stock beneath the tree.
  • Add 4 ¼” x ¾” Crumb Cake DSP strip to the left-hand side of the white stamped piece.
  • Wrap baker’s twine around the panel twice and tie a bow.
  • Pop up this panel on card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Add three red sequins.
  • Place remaining white cardstock piece in the middle of the card.
