Here’s Another One!

Picture

Hello Stampers!

Wow! I just think this card is so pretty! Love, love, love Strawberry Slush.

This is another card you can make at my fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on Thursday, May 22, from 3 to 8 p.m. Make as many cards as you want for just $2 each. We’ll have more than 12 designs to choose from.

This focus of this beauty is the Blessed Easter stamp. The bad news is that this stamp is only available through June 1. (Here it is in my online store. Click here.) As you can see, I removed the sentiment that says “Wishes for a Blessed Easter” so I can use this stamp for anything.

I stamped the image in Black Stazon and then colored it with Blender Pens and Strawberry Slush and Garden Green. I punched the image out with Stampin’ Up!’s
2 1/2inch circle punch and layered it on a Garden Green circle cut with our framelits dies. Then, that’s layered on a Tea Lace Paper Doily. The lovely Designer Series Paper is the Quatrefancy Specialty. It, too, won’t be back but it’s still available. Don’t miss out! The sentiment comes from the Itty Bitty Banners set.

Love this card! If you’re in the Lincoln, Nebraska, area, on Thursday, please join me for this fundraiser to honor a friend of mine battling non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. It’s just one way I can put my resources into something positive!

And This One …

Picture

Hello Stampers!

This is another one of the cards you can make Thursday, May 22, during my fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Come to my house in Lincoln, Nebraska, anytime between 3 and 8 p.m. and make as many cards as you like for $2 each. All proceeds will be donated to this organization in honor of a friend who has put up a huge battle against non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Today, she’s at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester praying for a small glimmer of hope. She’s been told by two other healthcare institutions there is nothing more they can do for her.

This card starts with a base of Sahara Sand card stock. I inked the flower image from Blooming with Kindness in Midnight Muse and stamped it on Very Vanilla card stock. That image is layered on a piece of Midnight Muse card stock. The sentiment comes from Loving Thoughts, which is retiring. The wood set is still available.

I am sorry to say that Midnight Muse is one of those colors that is retiring and will not be back next year. The ink pad and ribbon are still available. However, I think this card would be just as beautiful with Night of Navy.

I’d love to have you join me for this small fundraiser. I wanted to try to do something positive to show my friend we care. There will be more than 12 different card designs to choose from, and I’ll be offering refreshments.

Make This Card!

Hello Stampers!

Join me Thursday, May 22, for a fundraising event for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Come to my home in Lincoln, Nebraska, anytime between 3 and 8 p.m. and make any card available for just $2 each. I’m donating all of the proceeds to this organization to honor my friend who is in a tough battle against non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. I just want to do something positive with all of the stamps, ink, and paper I have! Bring a friend and have some fun! (Contact me for directions to the event site.)

This is just one of many cards you will be able to make. This creation features the Timeless Talk stamp set, available now in the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog and also in the new upcoming catalog. The penny farthing (bicycle) and sentiment are stamped in Real Red. The road is a piece of washi tape from the Epic Day This and That collection. I topped it off with Basic Metallic Buttons (available in the current Spring Occasions catalog.) The layers are Whisper White, Real Red, and Basic Gray.

Check back this next week for a glimpse of other cards you’ll be able to make on Thursday. I’d love to have you join me!

Join Me for an Impromptu Fundraiser

I originally planned an open house class format for Thursday, May 22. But I received some very sad news today. A little more than two years ago, a friend of mine in Minnesota was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. She’s been through several rounds of chemo, a stem cell transplant, and several remissions. She was just told by two separate health care institutions that she is out of options. They cannot get her tumors to shrink. She is headed for Mayo Clinic on Monday, praying for some glimmer of hope.

It’s hard for me to put myself in her shoes with a husband, two sons, parents, and many friends. I feel helpless and very sad. What can I do? How can I make a difference? I can make cards. That’s what I do. So I’m changing the focus of Thursday’s class. Come anytime between 3 and 8 p.m. Choose any number of cards you’d like to make and pay $2 per card. You keep the cards, and I will donate all of the money earned to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

I’ll be here to guide you, but there won’t be formal instruction. Thank you in advance for your support!

Please contact me for directions.

Needed Ink!

Picture

Hello Stampers!

I’m sure none of you has ever purchased a stamp set and then let it sit on the shelf — never seeing ink! I finally removed the Polka-Dot Pieces stamp set from the box and began using it. What fun! All of the images coordinate (imagine that!) with Stampin’ Up!’s punches!

The focal point of this card is the Tea Lace Paper Doily. I was inspired to change the color by spritzing it from a card I saw in the new 2014-2015 Stampin’ Up! catalog.

I combined some Crushed Curry reinker with the rubbing alcohol in a Stampin’ Spritzer and sprayed away. How cool is that? You can make these white doilies any color you want!

Funny story about the color combo. I was initially referencing SU!’s cool color coach and using Real Red and Pumpkin Pie with the Island Indigo leaves. But I had to go to a meeting so I just left the card on the table. In the midst of the meeting, I noticed this woman wearing the most beautiful blouse with the color combination of Crushed Curry and Elegant Eggplant. I immediately came home and changed the bird to Elegant Eggplant. The sentiment is stamped in Melon Mambo.

So, that’s my creation for the day. Can’t wait to start spritzing more doilies. I also have considered making a version of this card for swapping at convention in July. What do you think?

Here’s what the stamp set looks like. Even better news: this set is included in the new catalog!
