The bulk of the holiday celebrations are behind us. Perhaps you finished your handmade Christmas cards. Perhaps you didn’t. Either way, have you thought about sending a new year’s card? I’m thinking you could design, create, and send these well into the month of January. I know I have and plan to!
In addition, I modeled the card layout using the sketches on page 22 of Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog. This great layout works with a variety of stamp sets, papers, and sentiments. Be sure to look for other samples below.

A few weeks ago, Stampin’ Up! CEO Sara Douglass shared a cool technique on her Facebook page: heat embossing on glimmer paper. I don’t have the products she used, but I wanted to try it. It’s just so fun, and, well, glittery! It really packs a wow!
Currently, Stampin’ Up! offers four different packages of glimmer paper. That gives you a whole slate of choices to try this technique yourself. And, you may have some glimmer paper in your stash.

Seriously, this paper is amazing with its gold foil sheets and gold accents. And, the stamp set offers a mix-and-match approach, where you can “build” exactly what you want to say.

Today, I add Stampin’ U!’s Pocket Thoughts Dies to the mix. This three-die set allows you to add pockets on your card — on front or in the middle — to hold gift cards or tags with messages.
