When it comes to Christmas and the holidays, are you a traditionalist? Or do you prefer non-tradiational colors? I experimented with both using Stampin’ Up!’s Frosted Gingerbread Bundle. It comes with the Frosted Gingerbread Stamp Set and the coordinating Gingerbread Dies. Buy them as a bundle and save 10 percent.
The coordinating Gingerbread & Peppermint 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper makes this a versatile and fun combination of products. The colors include Real Red, Old Olive, Early Espresso, and Cinnamon Cider — what might be called your traditional colors.
I love this pack of 48 sheets, You can use the dies to cut the images directly from the paper, as well as use it for accents and backgrounds.
Frosted Gingerbread Mini Cards
I had much fun experimenting with this bundle and just had to make some 3 x 3 mini cards in a variety of designs. Here’s a sample of the traditional colors using pieces cut from the patterned paper.
Mini cards make great teacher gifts, hostess gifts, and stocking stuffers. Or, use them as your own gift tags. They are so easy to make. Cut your base card stock at 6 inches x 3 inches and score at 3 inches. Fold and decorate.
In addition, Stampin’ Up! offers mini envelopes as well as fun acetate boxes that can be decorated to coordinate with the cards. Be sure to view the product list below.

Join me today as I show you how to use ink refills and baby wipes. There’s even a video at the end of the post.
Stampin’ Up!’s ink refills serve the primary purpose of reinking Stampin’ Up!’s Classic Ink Pads when they become dry after many uses. However, the refills can be used for other crafting projects such as water coloring and the baby wipe technique. (I recommend purchasing the refill with the pad so you have it on hand. It’s a great value for $3.75 per bottle.)
The baby wipe technique isn’t new. But it’s a fun one to reintroduce each year, especially in the fall. I love the way the colors can be used to mimic the changing foliage.
How to Use Ink Refills
For this card, I used the coordinating and rich colors of: Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Blackberry Bliss, and Cherry Cobbler.
I squirted a little bit of each color onto a folded baby wipe (be sure to protect your table with wax paper or an Acrylic Mat). Watch the video below for visual instructions. Press your stamp (I used a leaf from Stampinin’ Up!’s Rooted in Nature Stamp Set) into the ink on the wipe. Then stamp the image onto the card stock. You can change the color of the leaf by moving the stamp around on the baby wipe ink pad.
Here are the paper measurements:
Blackberry Bliss: 8 1/2 inches x 5 1/2 inches scored at 4 1/4 inches for base, a 4 x 3 piece, and one cut with the Layering Ovals Die
Very Vanilla: 5 1/4 inch x 4 inch for inside
Cherry Cobbler: 5 1/4 x 4 inch, embossed with the Woodland Embossing Folder
Shimmery White: 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 inches and 3 x 2 inches
Linen Thread: 30 inches
This fun technique works with a variety of colors and stamp sets. Experiment and have fun. Please let me know if you have questions about this technique or other paper crafting cards. If you aren’t currently working with a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I’d love to be a part of your creative journey. Post a comment on this post or email me at: kimqskards@gmail.com.

By the Dock Summer
Some families camped. Some families visited Disneyland. Other families traveled to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore during summer vacation. Our family lived at the lake in Minnesota. A weekend stretched to a week, which became a month, and turned into spending three glorious months enjoying the lake life. We loved water skiing, floating on air mattresses, and seeing brilliant sunsets. (We try to forget battling those giant mosquitoes at night!)
Each morning, my sisters and I awoke and immediately dressed in our swimsuits. We spent the entire day on the dock, listening to music and reading what seemed like hundreds of books.
Stampin’ Up!’s By the Dock stamp set and coordinating dies bring back memories of those long, lazy days soaking up the sun and enjoying the water. I tried to recreate that scene with rubber stamps, ink, paper, and accessories.
Products I Used
I pulled together a few current Stampin’ Up! products to create this scene that takes me back to those idyllic Minnesota summers:
By the Dock stamp set
Dockside Dies
Under My Umbrella stamp set
Stitched Nested Labels
Layering Circles Dies
Stitched Shapes Dies
Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder
Shimmery White card stock water colored with Balmy Blue and Daffodil Delight
What summer memories do you have? Share them in the comments. I’d love to hear.
Again, hop along to all of the blogs and comment on them all.
Congratulations to last month’s winner: Nancy Cox.

Showcasing a masculine card using Stampin’ Up!’s Rooted in Nature stamp set and Nature’s Roots Dies.
Last Saturday, I participated in Team Stamps It’s monthly blog hop. This month, we featured cards centering on the men in our lives and Father’s Day. I made two cards, and I couldn’t decide which one to share. See Saturday’s card (using the brand-new World of Good Suite) here.
When I designed this card, I liked the idea of using the Woodland Embossing Folder to make a background with three different colors: Garden Green, Crumb Cake, and Cherry Cobbler.
The Rooted in Nature stamp set offers a host of images perfecting for creating masculine-themed cards. I’m excited to say this stamp set and its coordinating dies appear in Stampin’ Up!’s new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.
The coordinating Nature’s Roots Dies coordinate with the above stamp set. Through June 2 or while supplies last, these dies are listed on sale for $15.60. That’s a deal!
A couple of notes about this card. I stamped the:
stump image with Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla card stock and fussy cut with snips;
leaf image onto Vellum Card Stock with Garden Green ink three times without reinking. (That’s called third generation stamping.) Step away and let the ink dry before die cutting.
See the photo below for how that looks on Vellum. I then used a die cutting machine and the coordinating dies to get the images.
