Floating Candy Canes Technique

Floating Candy Canes Technique

You may have recently seen the “floating” greeting card technique while browsing Pinterest. A card shared by stamper Dr. Robin caught my eye. I followed her directions and created a Christmas card to make during a recent class. My ladies so enjoyed creating this card. I started to think. What other current products could I use to show this technique and make it my own?

I landed on Stampin’ Up!’s Sweet Candy Canes Bundle. Find it on pages 8-9 of Stampin’ Up!’s July-December 2022 Mini Catalog. Just a note: This suite retires January 4, 2023. Be sure to order it before it’s gone.

Here are a few details about this handmade greeting card. Be sure to watch the how to video below to get visual instructions.

  • Real Red base: 11 x 4 1/4 inches, scored at 5 1/2 inches and folded in half
  • Soft Succulent card stock 5 1/4 x 4 embossed with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder

  • Attach Adhesive Sheet to back of vellum. Die cut with Deckled Rectangle Dies.
  • Peel off adhesive back and layer on Soft Succulent.
  • Attach all to Real Red Card front.
  • With Stampin’ Seal +, attach little strips (2 inches by 1/2 inches) of red and white glimmer paper to two pieces of Window Sheet measuring 1 3/4 inches x 4 1/2 inches.
  • Die cut with candy cane dies. Be sure you have one of each candy canes that face in opposite directions.
  • Pop the candy canes up with dimensionals on card front.
  • Stamp sentiment in Real Red ink on a circle die cut from the Picture This dies.

Sunny Splash Fun Fold

Sunny Splash Fun Fold

From the time I was born, my family spent our summers at “the lake.” First, it started as just a weeklong vacation, and that turned into two weeks, and then three months. What memories we made during these idyllic summers in Minnesota. We spent entire days in our swim suits, reading books on the dock. So Stampin’ Up!’s Sunny Splash stamp set holds some nostalgia. (Find this set in Stampin’ Up’s Annual Catalog on page 41.)

I’ve had a lot of fun creating with this set. Today, I combine it with a fun fold inspired by Jackie Bolhuis.

Sunny Splash Fun Fold

Here are some basic measurements for this card. Be sure to watch the video at the end of this post, to see exactly how it goes together.

  • Card Base measures 7 1/4 inches x 5 1/2 inches, score at 3 inches
  • Coordinating card stock measures 1 /2 inches x 4, score at 1 inch — this is the tab/arm for your fun fold
  • Card stock measuring 3 1/4 x 3 1/4
  • Basic card stock measuring 3 x 3. This is where you’ll add a die cut and/or stamp and sentiment. I inked the Rays of Light stamp set with Crushed Curry and “stamped off” on a scratch paper and then applied the stamp to my 3 x 3 square. The sentiment is stamped in Pacific Point and the swim suit in Melon Mambo.
  • Designer Series Paper measuring 5 1/4 x 2 3/4 and 5 1/4 x 1 1/4
  • Color card stock 1/4 x 5 1/4
  • Basic White measuring 5 1/4 x 4

Season of Chic Samples

Season of Chic Samples

Stampin’ Up!’s Season of Chic Bundle attracted my attention because it contains images and dies that can be used for all of the seasons. This makes it versatile–something I can use year round. It includes seashells for summer, leaves for fall, snowflakes for winter, and flowers for spring. Find it on pages 98 and 99 of Stampiin’ Up!’s 2022-2023 Annual Catalog

The bundle includes the Season of Chic stamp set and the Chic Dies. The bundled price includes a 10 percent discount. And, the Texture Chic 12 x 12 Designer Series is a must-have item. I love the gold highlights in the sheets.

I grabbed this bundle from the shelf to create a birthday for a friend who loves the beach. The seashells images work perfectly as does the sentiment. I also added Petal Pink panel embossed with the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder.

With just a little bit of extra time to play, I created the two additional cards below with different elements from the suite.

The card above features a flower image, stamped and die cut.

And, this final card uses the “swoosh” element. It reminds me of a similar image from the Work of Art stamp set. I loved using it for backgrounds and tried it here. The Designer Series Paper above comes from the Design a Daydream 12 x 12 package. (Earn it free as a hostess. Ask me how!)

Natural Prints Christmas Cards

Natural Prints Christmas Cards

When I purchase a brand-new suite of paper crafting products from Stampin’ Up!, I work with it intensely. I try to create as many card samples as possible with it. So, I recently dug into the new Sun Prints Suite Collection found in Stampin’ Up!’s 2022-2023 Annual Catalog.

See this post for additional card samples.

I admit I was a little stumped on how to use the round floral image in the Natural Prints Dies. It screams wreath, and I experimented with turning it into a holiday wreath and creating Christmas cards.

I also used Stampin’ Up!’s Christmas to Remember stamp set and a label from the Seasonal Label Dies.

This card features Gold Foil, gold heat embossing, with the sentiment from the Peaceful Deer stamp set.
