Reason to Celebrate New Year

Reason to Celebrate New Year

Happy new year! Welcome to 2026! This year, I wish for you many happy crafting experiences. I’m excited to start the year with new products from Stampin’ Up! On January 6, the January-April 2026 Mini Catalog goes live, as well as a robust slate of Online Exclusives. Check back here for links and inspiration.

Today’s card uses something new (Reason to Celebrate Photopolymer Stamp Set) and something old (Modern Christmas Designer Series Paper). I just love the black, gold, and white combination of this patterned paper. Not only did I create a nice selection of holiday cards, but now it does its work for a new year card. Making new year cards gives me an opportunity to send best wishes to those I missed during the holiday. Do you make and send new year cards?

Modern Christmas in Green

Modern Christmas in Green

My favorite patterned paper for creating with this holiday season is Stampin’ Up!’s Modern Christmas 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper. I so love the gold, black, and white combination.

Modern Christmas 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper

However, I appreciate the traditional holiday colors of red and green. In today’s post, I share how I used this paper and transformed it into a Real Red and Old Olive beauty.

Measurements and Details

  • Real Red cardstock base measuring 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4
  • Old Olive Two-Tone cardstock measuring 5 1/4 x 4 and dry embossed with Traditional Wreath 3D Embossing Folder
  • Sand embossed image. drag Old Olive ink pad across embossed panel.
  • Tree pattern from the Modern Christmas 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper blended with Old Olive ink.
  • Punch circle with 2 3/8-inch Circle Punch.
  • Layer on Real Red cardstock die cut with Stylish Shapes Dies.
  • Sentiment from Holly Jolly stamp set stamped with Real Red ink on Old Olive Two-Tone Cardstock and die cut with Stylish Shapes Dies.
  • Traditional Sparkling Sequins.
  • Real Red 1/2-inch Shiny Ribbon

Here’s another version below. I just used regular Old Olive cardstock instead of the two-tone cardstock. Which version do you like best?
