Ginkgo Branch Free Tutorial

Ginkgo Branch Free Tutorial

Do you like to stretch the limits of a bundle? If you’re like me, you love it when you can use a stamp set and the coordinating dies for more than one reason. The Ginkgo Branch Bundle has been on my craft table for the last couple of weeks. Initially, it looks as if it’s geared only toward thinking of you and sympathy cards. And, it works great for that. Click here to see a post that showcases three of these cards using this bundle.

But I’ve also used it to create birthday cards. See another example here. And, today, I share a free birthday card tutorial featuring the Ginkgo Branch Bundle. Please enjoy the step-by-step instructions for creating this gorgeous, handmade birthday card.

Welcome to Team Stamp It’s January blog hop. Prepare to be inspired! We’re so glad you joined us! This month, we feature Valentine cards and projects. Be sure to visit all of the participating stampers and leave a comment with the hashtag #stampitcontent. You could win a Take Your Pick Tool.

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been playing with Stampin’ Up!’s Country Bouquet Bundle (buy the stamp set and punch as a bundle and save 10 percent). The punch has been so popular, it’s on backorder for a bit, but the stamp set itself is a winner. Especially if you want to make a variety of Valentine cards. Find the bundle and the suite beginning on page 8 of Stampin’ Up!’s January-April 2023 Mini Catalog.

Country Bouquet in Gold

Stampin' Up! Country Bouquet Stamp Set

The large heart image features a two-step stamping technique. You can choose two coordinating colors to create the heart, or do like me and heat emboss both images with gold embossing powder. I love how it turned out. It makes a great handmade Valentine card for a loved one.

A few details:

  • Used Stampin’ Up!’s Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut the first three layers of Very Vanilla and Petal Pink card stock
  • Heat embossed the heart and sentiment with gold embossing powder, using the Stampartus to help me best position both stamps of the image.
  • Colored baker’s twine with Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends
  • Added the Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins
  • Embossed the bottom Very Vanilla layer with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder

Amazing Silhouettes Emboss Resist

Amazing Silhouettes Emboss Resist Technique

Thanksgiving brings to mind fall and the changing foliage colors. (In Arizona, we see some changing foliage, but not as much as North Dakota and Minnesota where I grew up.) Today’s card uses Stampin’ Up!’s Amazing Silhouettes stamp set and introduces the Emboss Resist technique. A little sponging makes this tree come alive. Check out the how-to video below to watch how I created this handmade card.

Here are a few details of how this handmade card comes together:

  • Start with Shimmery White card stock measuring 2 1/2 inches by 5 1/4 inches.
  • Rub the Embossing Buddy along the paper to remove any static (Note: find this and other embossing tools–Embossing Additions Tool Kit–on page 49 of Stampin’ Up!’s July-December Mini Catalog.)
  • Ink the tree stamp from Amazing Silhouettes with Versarmark and stamp on the Shimmery White.
  • Pour White Embossing Powder on the image, tapping off the excess.
  • Heat with Heat Tool until shiny.
  • Use Sponge Daubers to gently apply desired ink colors. I used Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry. Wipe excess ink with a paper towel.
  • Afix this piece to a Crushed Curry piece measuring 5 1/4 inches by 2 5/8 inches.
  • Add sentiment of choice (I used greetings from the Art Gallery stamp set) and Linen Thread. Any sentiment works for this card including Happy Thanksgiving. You can also use this card design for October and November birthdays.
  • With Stampin’ Dimensionals, pop this panel up on a 5 1/4 inch x 4 inch Cherry Cobbler card stock embossed with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Attach to Cherry Cobbler card base.
  • Add Champagne Rhinestone Jewels
