Cracker Box for New Years
New Year’s Eve crackers are a popular party favor. Just like Christmas crackers, they’re decorated tubes filled with toys, trinkets, candy, confetti, and many times, tissue paper crowns. According to Google, the tradition of Christmas crackers began around the mid-1840s in the United Kingdom by a man named Tom Smith. He inserted love messages into the wrappers, similar to fortune cookies.
Stampin’ Up! sells the Cracker & Treat Box Dies in its 2022-2023 Annual Catalog to make creating these fun treat packets easy. And they’re good for treat giving all year round.
I started with a 6 x 6 sheet of Designer Series Paper and cut the entire die. But I used just one section to create the new year card for this blog hop. From this one die cut, you could make six cards!
You might be wondering what you would do with a new year card. I love to have some on hand to send after Christmas either as thank you notes or in reply to other cards I’ve received throughout the season.
Here’s how this card comes together:
- Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock Base
- Gold Foil layer measures 5 7/8″ x 5 3/8″
- 5 1/4″ x 4″ Very Vanilla Cardstock die cut with the Split Card Textures Dies
- A portion of the Cracker & Treat Box Dies — Texture Chic 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper
- Heat embossed sentiment (Brightest Glow stamp set from the July-December 2022 Mini Catalog)
- Gold Simply Elegant Trim
- Champagne Rhinestone Jewels
I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Be sure to visit all of the other blogs on the hop. Leave a comment with the hashtag #stampitcontest. You could win a Cozy & Bright Card Kit.
Congrats to Arlene Reimer, last month’s winner.
