Merriest Trees Fun Fold

Merriest Trees Fun Fold

Who loves a fun fold card? A fun fold gives me an opportunity to be creative in my card making and surprise and delight the recipient at the same time. Today’s card appears to be a traditional front-opening card. However, it’s not. The tree itself is where the card actually opens. See the photo below.

For this project, I use Stampin’ Up!’s Merriest Trees Bundle. It’s a favorite in the September-December 2023 Mini Catalog. This tree and die cutting technique I use today also lends itself to making some cute packaging tags or even standalone Christmas cards.

Here are some basic directions for making this card:

  • Basic White Card Stock base measures 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
  • Real Red Card Stock panel measuring 5 1/4 x 4 die cut with Tiny Christmas Trees Die (retiring and on sale)
  • Dotted piece of Vellum Basics measuring 4 3/4 x 3 1/2
  • Thick Basic White Card Stock measuring 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 burnished well and folded in half
  • Large tree stamped in Garden Green ink on above piece making sure the top of tree “runs off the page” at the top of the fold. (Be sure to watch the video below to see how this works.)
  • Die cut with large tree die, making sure the top of the tree is off the paper. You’re creating a folded card image.
  • Stamp sentiment in Real Red ink on die cut label (Cracker &Treat Box Dies)
  • Real Red ribbon
  • Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels colored with Real Red Stampin’ Blends Combo Pack

Making Spirits Bright Christmas Card

Welcome to Team Stamp It’s Holiday Blog Hop! Thanks so much for joining us! For this hop, we feature handmade cards and projects with a holiday and Christmas theme. Be sure to visit all of the blogs on the hop. Leave a comment on each for your chance to win a Forever Friends all-inclusive card kit.

Card-making inspiration comes from many places: other stampers, Pinterest, home decor, paint colors, and retail offerings. My holiday card share today stems from some holiday tableware I spotted at World Market. When I saw the dinner plate, I knew it would make a great card. See my inspiration below.

For this card, I used the fun tree die from the Reindeer Dies. Find this set of dies on page 166 of Stampin’ Up’s Annual Catalog. I die cut the tree from each of the sheets included in the 2022-2024 In Color 12 x 12 Textured Specialty Paper. The colors include: Parakeet Party, Orchid Oasis, Starry Sky, Tahitian Tide, and Sweet Sorbet. The paper has a bit of shimmer and makes this card so fun and festive.

Brewed for You Holiday Spirits

Brewed for You Holiday Spirits

When you sit down to create a handmade greeting card, do you feature just one stamp set? Or do you mix and match? Normally, I like to work with just one set. I love seeing all of the different ways I can use the images and the sentiments. But, other times, it’s fun to dig into the stamp stash and have some fun.

Today, I show a card created using Stampin’ Up!’s Joy of Noel stamp set from the September-December 2023 Mini Catalog in conjunction with the Brewed for You stamp set and coordinating Brewed Dies found in Stampin’ Up!’s 2023-2024 Annual Catalog. (Please note: The Joy of Noel stamp set is retiring and is available while supplies last. If you like it, purchase it sooner rather than later. I don’t want you to be disappointed if it sells out. Click here to visit Stampin’ Up!’s online store to see which products from the September-December 2023 Mini Catalog are being retired. Some are discounted up to 60 percent off.)

I think it’s fun to pair the drink glasses in Brewed for You with the Joy of Noel’s sentiment “Making Spirits Bright.”

Do you love to color your stamped images? Or do you prefer not to color stamped images? I’m usually in a hurry to make a stack of quick and easy cards, so I stay away from coloring. But, today, I show you a fun and beautiful coloring technique perfect for use with Stampin’ Up!’s Joy of Noel Bundle. Find it in Stampin’ Up!’s September-December 2023 Mini Catalog. If you love this bundle, be sure to grab it. It’s being retired and won’t be available much longer.

Stampin' Up! Joy of Noel

Stampin’ Up! offers so many ways to color images — from Stampin’ Blends to Watercolor Pencils to Blender Pens and more. But did you know you can watercolor with the Wink of Stella pen? This accessory is generally used to sparkle and shine to projects. Be sure to watch the video below to see exactly how I watercolor with Wink of Stella to create this gorgeous handmade Christmas card.  (The picture doesn’t adequately show the shimmer of this beautiful card, so be sure to try it yourself.)
